Counselling
Often we can work through problems and life crises adequately without professional help. At times, however, counselling, referred to as talk therapy, can be of great benefit and the skills of a trained therapist can help bring about a sense of hope and relief.
Counselling with me is flexible and shaped around your unique needs and goals. I offer both short-term and long-term support, depending on what you are seeking:

-
If you need practical help with a specific issue, I work with you to develop effective tools and coping strategies for managing current life challenges.
-
If you are seeking insight into underlying causes or unwanted patterns of behaviour, we can explore these together to foster long-term personal growth and meaningful change.
Whether you are looking for immediate support or deeper self-understanding, our work together will be guided by your priorities and at a pace that feels right for you.

EYE MOVEMENT AND DESENSITISATION (EMDR)
EMDR is a well-researched, effective psychotherapy approach for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. EMDR is proven to be effective in helping people recover from trauma in addition to various other distressing life experiences, including depression, anxiety, panic disorders.

How is EMDR different to other Psychotherapies?
EMDR therapy offers a gentle and effective way to work through distressing memories without the need to talk about them in detail. This approach is designed to help your brain naturally process and heal from past experiences that may still be affecting you today. Many people find that EMDR can bring relief in fewer sessions than other types of therapy, making it a practical choice for those seeking meaningful change.

During EMDR sessions, we’ll identify specific memories that are causing you distress, and then use guided eye movements, sounds, or gentle taps to help your brain reprocess these experiences. You’ll find that, while the memories themselves don’t disappear, their emotional intensity fades, and they no longer have the same negative impact on your daily life. EMDR is a relational, supportive and empowering process, helping you let go of the past so you can move forward with greater ease and confidence.
Hypnotherapy
If using hypnosis, I first speak to you to ensure treatment is tailored to your needs and wishes. Hypnosis is a well established treatment that helps you align your unconscious automatic habits with your conscious desires and goals. It is a practical addition to therapy for accelerating lasting change.
Hypnosis can be used to help you make changes in unwanted behaviours or help to manage a myriad of concerns, both mental and physical. This is achieved by calming the conscious mind sufficiently so that you can achieve a state of focused attention or deep absorption.
This allows you to use your imagination creatively to focus on aspects of your experience and create new choices.

Resource Therapy (Advanced Ego States)

Couples Therapy
Getting Started Together
The first four sessions are a chance for you and your partner to get comfortable, share your story, and explore your relationship concerns. Think of this as an opportunity to reflect on what’s working well and what you’d like to change or strengthen together.
What to Expect:
-
A Welcoming Space: These sessions are about creating a safe and relaxed environment where both of you can speak openly and feel heard.
-
Understanding Your Story: We’ll talk about your journey as a couple - your strengths, shared values, and the challenges you’ve faced. If you’d like, you can complete the Gottman Relationship Questionnaire for extra insights, but it’s entirely up to you.
-
Personalised Support: Everything we learn together will help shape a path that fits your relationship, making sure the support you receive feels relevant and meaningful.
-
Setting Shared Goals: We’ll work together to clarify what you both hope to get out of therapy, whether that’s improving communication, deepening your connection, or navigating specific challenges.
-
Looking Ahead: At the end of this phase, in-depth feedback and recommendations are provided, which may include:
-
Couples therapy
-
Individual therapy
-
Referral to more specialised services
-

This structured approach ensures that therapy is both focused and responsive to your unique situation.

Treatment Phase
If we move forward into couples therapy after your initial assessment, you’ll have the choice of weekly sessions lasting either 60 or 75 minutes – whatever feels right for you. During this phase, I take an integrative approach, drawing on different therapeutic methods to focus on the unique dynamics within your relationship. Together, we’ll work to identify and break free from patterns that may be holding you back from healing and growth as a couple.

You’ll learn practical ways to navigate conflict with respect and understanding, helping you build a relationship grounded in trust and deeper emotional and physical intimacy. Success will be measured not just by the goals you reach, but by the meaningful shifts you notice in how you relate to each other and the new, healthier patterns you create together.
